I attempted the Secure+ back in March and didn't pass. Gonna try again later this year. It was a lot harder than I thought.

Failed the security+ exam after taking it the first time today.. I took the new sy0-701 exam, never have taken sy0-601 before. I practiced with professor messer’s notes and practice exams as well as cert master, I thought I was prepared enough but I wasn’t either. I have never failed a cert before this - I passed ITF+ and Cloud Essentials which are relatively entry level but I also passed the CCNA the first time around as well. Your video is exactly the motivation I needed. If I pass the second time should I go for CySA? I know it’s a lot harder..

I got 2 SANS certs and I can tell you the courses are amazing, but the exams are absolutely designed for you to pass - they are extremely easy. I passed one of the certs without taking the course and back then I only had 1 year of IT support experience, and read thru the whole book of All you need to pass GCIH. And guess what, I passed it...obviously combined with HTB experiences. I did take GPEN course and it was a great course put together, but the cert exam itself is extremely easy - easier than the easy box on HTB. No trashing but honest review.

I actually passed my exam a few days ago. It was by a hair, but the score I got was still my highest “points wise” compared to what I scored on the A+ and Net+ exams. Out of all the exams I took, Network+ was the hardest for me. The Questions I got were insanely hard, but when I took Sec+ (Sy0-601) I didn’t struggle nearly as much. I think it’s just luck of the draw for what batch of questions you get. I honestly had a difficult time believing that I actually passed the Net+ exam when I did. The one thing I do recommend to improve your odds of passing is look up as many resources online that you can related to PBQs and study them. If you do really well on the PBQs you will have more leeway if you get more wrong on the multiple-choice part. I don’t know exactly how CompTIA grades these tests, but I honestly feel I did better on the PBQs part of the exams than I did on multiple choice. Anyway, best of luck to you guys in your studies!

The initial mindset is being able to drive process. I counter that not thinking as a hacker is optional. To make security successful requires a hackers mindset. Outside the box - 100% on point! The link below is a reference to my book that fits this discussion: www.dewaynehart.com
